The Zimbabwe Passengers Association (ZPA) has urged drivers to observe road rules and prioritise safety ahead of the busy Independence and Easter holiday weekend.
This week is expected to see increased travel due to the convergence of Independence celebrations, Easter holiday movement, and the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.
ZPA General Secretary Paul Makiwa has called on unlicensed drivers to refrain from operating public transport and to avoid overloading, citing the need to preserve lives.
During the 2024 Easter holiday, the Zimbabwe Republic Police reported 27 deaths from 26 fatal road accidents across the country.
