President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa today presided over the graduation ceremony of officer cadets at the Zimbabwe Military Academy, reinforcing the government’s commitment to building a professional and disciplined defence force.
The ceremony, held in Gweru, marked a significant milestone for the graduating cadets who successfully completed rigorous military training to join the ranks of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces. The event was attended by senior government officials, military commanders, diplomats, and family members of the graduates.
President Mnangagwa’s presence at the ceremony comes shortly after his return from official state visits to Russia and Belarus, where he signed a number of cooperation agreements aimed at strengthening Zimbabwe’s bilateral relations and boosting key sectors such as energy, agriculture, mining, and defence.
In his keynote address, the President commended the cadets for their resilience and discipline, urging them to serve with honour, loyalty, and an unwavering commitment to national sovereignty. He emphasized the critical role the defence forces play in safeguarding Zimbabwe’s peace, territorial integrity, and development aspirations.
“As you graduate today, you are not just receiving ranks — you are accepting the solemn duty to protect our nation, uphold the Constitution, and contribute meaningfully to national development,” said President Mnangagwa.
The Zimbabwe Military Academy remains a premier institution in shaping future leaders of the armed forces. The President reaffirmed his administration’s support for modernizing military infrastructure and enhancing training programs in line with evolving global security trends.
The graduation ceremony also featured military drills, awards presentations, and a flypast by the Air Force of Zimbabwe, showcasing the professionalism and capability of the nation’s defence institutions.
