ZLHR Urges Government to Prioritize Sanitation Services on World Toilet Day

The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) has called on the government to prioritize universal access to hygienic and dignified sanitation services, including decent toilets, in response to the widespread lack of safe sanitation across the country, which poses significant public health risks.
In a statement issued yesterday, on World Toilet Day, ZLHR highlighted the dire state of public toilets, which violate users’ right to dignity and expose them to inhumane conditions.
The organization reminded local authorities of their legal obligation to provide adequate public toilets and urged the government to allocate resources to address sanitation deficiencies.
To ensure “sanitation for peace,” ZLHR emphasized the need for investment in sustainable infrastructure and the repair of public toilets.
