ZIMRA Warns Small Business Importers on Compliance
Written by Staff Reporter on January 16, 2025
The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) has reminded small business importers to comply with importation procedures and provide documents proving lawful entry of goods to avoid seizures.
In an interview, ZIMRA officer Zenzele Ndlovu stated that importers must submit letters specifying the quantity and type of goods, as well as pay clearance fees.
Siphiwe Moyo from ZIMRA added that for small businesses, goods must not exceed USD $1,000. Importers are required to provide invoices and certificates of origin for verification.
If goods are seized, ZIMRA issues a notice, and owners must appeal to the regional manager within 90 days. Businesses must keep records for six years to avoid fines or imprisonment.
