The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has urged schools to prioritize banking and improve security following a dramatic heist at Inyathi Primary School in Matabeleland North, where robbers stole US$8,000.
In his address, the Director Of Communications and Advocacy at the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education advised schools to avoid keeping large sums of cash on-site and emphasized adopting alternative payment methods and secure storage solutions.
The robbers reportedly broke into the school, breached the safe, and made off with the money. The Zimbabwe Republic Police has launched investigations to track down the suspects.
The ministry stressed that prioritizing banking and security measures is vital for protecting school resources and ensuring a safe environment for students.
