Hwange Unit 8 returns to grid, boosting power supply

Hwange Unit 8 has successfully returned to service, injecting an additional 300 MegaWatts of power into the national grid.
As of today, the Hwange Power Station is generating a total of 919MW, while Kariba Hydropower Station continues to produce 185MW. Independent Power Producers (IPPs) are contributing a steady 56MW.
This brings Zimbabwe’s total power generation to 1,160MW, significantly improving energy availability across the country.
Zimbabwe’s peak power demand currently stands at 1,900MW. With the current generation level, the country is currently meeting approximately 61% of its peak demand.
