The Zimbabwe Passengers Association (ZPA) has called on drivers nationwide to adhere to speed limits and road regulations to prevent unnecessary loss of life and ensure passenger safety.
This appeal follows a troubling week in Bulawayo, where 77 accidents were recorded, resulting in four deaths.
ZPA general secretary, Paul Makiwa, emphasized the importance of responsible driving.
Oliver Ndlovu, chairman of the Barbourfields Route, highlighted potholes as a major contributor to accidents and warned against employing drivers who drink while driving.
Wellingtone Mzawami pointed to over-speeding and failure to yield as key factors, especially when traffic lights are malfunctioning.
Makiwa concluded by urging drivers to prioritize their lives, passengers’ safety, and the secure transport of goods, stressing the importance of following all traffic rules.
