Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) stakeholders convened in Mutare yesterday to discuss the opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) for the country’s growth and development.
The meeting, which included government officials, ZIMRA representatives, and the Competition and Tariff Commission, focused on raising awareness about AfCFTA’s benefits among border agencies.
Stakeholders reviewed simplified guidelines to make the protocol accessible, emphasizing inclusivity by empowering women and youth to participate fully in the emerging opportunities.
The discussions highlighted the need for tariff adjustments to protect local industries while enhancing trade competitiveness. By clarifying guidelines and promoting awareness, ZIMRA aims to ensure Zimbabwe’s smooth integration into the continental market.
This collaboration seeks to position Zimbabwean businesses, particularly women- and youth-led enterprises, to capitalize on the economic potential of AfCFTA.
