Zambian MP Emmanuel Banda Arrested in Zimbabwe After Escape

Zambian Member of Parliament Emmanuel Banda has been arrested in Zimbabwe following his escape from police custody in Zambia in August.

Banda, who is facing charges of aggravated robbery and attempted murder, was apprehended on November 19 in Harare. He is currently detained at a Harare police station and is set to be extradited to Zambia to stand trial.

Home Affairs Minister Jack Mwiimbu commended Zimbabwean authorities for their cooperation, noting that Banda’s arrest followed a tip-off about his whereabouts in a rented flat in Harare.
