The Zimbabwean government, in partnership with French development agencies, has launched the ZimBee Project, an initiative aimed at increasing honey production, creating jobs, and enhancing food security across the country.
The program, officially unveiled in Harare by Ambassador Albert Ranganai Chimbindi, Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, is designed to empower local communities through sustainable beekeeping practices.
Speaking at the launch, Ambassador Chimbindi stated that ZimBee is a result of successful diplomatic engagements during a recent visit to France.
The project has secured €1.5 million in funding from the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), with additional support from Expertise France. Through training programs, resource provision, and market access support, ZimBee aims to position Zimbabwe as a key player in the global honey industry while promoting environmental sustainability.
