Zimbabwe Pushes for Global Cooperation on Sustainable Housing at World Urban Forum

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s commitment to partnering with the international community to develop sustainable housing systems and confront the growing challenges of rapid urbanisation.
Addressing delegates during the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum 13 in Baku, Vice President Chiwenga said international collaboration is essential in designing modern, inclusive, and resilient urban housing solutions capable of meeting increasing population demands.
He said Zimbabwe is prioritising improved housing delivery and smarter urban planning through innovation, strategic partnerships, and knowledge exchange with global institutions and other nations.
The Vice President underscored the importance of sustainable urban development in driving economic transformation, improving living standards, and building cities that are resilient, inclusive, and capable of supporting future generations.
Hosted by UN-Habitat, the World Urban Forum serves as a global platform bringing together governments, development experts, investors, urban planners, and civil society organisations to shape policies on housing and sustainable city development.
Zimbabwe’s participation at the high-level gathering signals the country’s determination to align its urban development agenda with international best practices while accelerating infrastructure modernisation and expanding access to decent and affordable housing.
