Zimbabwe has urged the international community to strengthen collaboration in addressing the growing threats within the digital sphere.
Speaking on behalf of Zimbabwe at the 10th session of the Open-Ended Working Group on Information and Communication Technology (OEWG), Minister Counsellor Batanai Mhango, highlighted the urgent need for a unified approach to cybersecurity.
Mhango expressed deep concern over the evolving landscape of ICT threats. She specifically pointed to the rising prevalence of supply chain attacks, the misuse of artificial intelligence, and the increase in misinformation campaigns, all of which are increasingly destabilizing systems and undermining democratic processes.
She emphasized the critical need for international cooperation to safeguard a secure digital future, advocating for an inclusive framework that empowers all nations to contribute to a stable cyber environment.
The OEWG, established by the United Nations General Assembly, serves as a platform for international dialogue and cooperation on cybersecurity. Its mandate includes addressing the challenges posed by the rapid advancement of information and communication technologies, and fostering a secure and stable cyberspace.
