NRZ Dismisses False Social Media Claims on Outdated Locomotives

The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) has dismissed social media claims suggesting that a circulating image shows outdated locomotives piling up in Bulawayo. This is the second time the photo has resurfaced, with a similar claim first made in December 2023.
In a statement, NRZ clarified that the locomotives in the image are not part of its fleet. The company also pointed out that the vegetation in the photo aligns with a Mediterranean climate, which does not exist in Bulawayo. A reverse image search confirmed that the picture actually depicts the old Plazaola Station in Lekunberri, Spain.
NRZ has urged the public to disregard the misleading claims and invited interested individuals to visit its Bulawayo facilities for firsthand verification.
