ZIMBABWE 35TH POST-CABINET BRIEFING – 29TH of OCTOBER 2024

In its latest meeting, the Zimbabwean Cabinet reviewed key initiatives aimed at enhancing food security and public services. The Cabinet considered a report on the Food Deficit Mitigation Strategy and Urban Transfer Programme, presented by the Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Honourable July Moyo. As of 22nd October 2024, the 2nd Blitz Food distribution has successfully moved a total of 94,527.64 metric tonnes of cereal, achieving 62.7% of the targeted 139,854.94 metric tonnes, reaching eight provinces nationwide.

In addition, the Cabinet approved the Proposed Air Services Development Plan, presented by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Honourable Felix Mhona. This plan aims to strengthen the country’s air transport infrastructure and services.

The Cabinet also adopted the Report on the Citizen Satisfaction Survey and Baseline Survey on Work Culture Transformation for 2023, also presented by Minister Moyo. This report offers valuable insights into public sentiment and workplace dynamics.

Honourable Daniel Garwe, the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, provided an update on the reconstruction of the Mbare Traders Market, highlighting progress in revitalizing this vital economic hub.

In conclusion, the Cabinet approved the Principles of the Health Professions Bill, presented by the Minister of Health and Child Care, Honourable Dr. Douglas Mombeshora. This legislation aims to enhance the regulation and standards of health professions in the country.

These discussions underscored the Cabinet’s commitment in addressing critical issues impacting Zimbabwe’s economy and public welfare.
