Zimbabwe and Zambia continue to enjoy strong bilateral relations, with trade volumes between the two countries reaching nearly US$390 million in 2024.

The thriving partnership was reaffirmed in Lusaka during the Zimbabwe National Day Celebrations, where Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Zambia, Her Excellency Charity Charamba, underscored the importance of the Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation (JPCC) in advancing economic diplomacy and fostering mutual growth.

Zambia’s Minister of Science and Technology, Honourable Felix Mutati, noted that the increased trade volumes reflect the growing significance of Zimbabwe as a strategic trading partner in the region.

Several Zimbabwean businesses have expanded into Zambia, indicating growing investor confidence and deeper integration between the two economies. Companies in sectors such as electronics and tobacco are contributing to Zambia’s industrial landscape while strengthening Zimbabwe’s export performance.

Educational cooperation has also intensified, with the ED UNZA scholarship offering academic opportunities to underprivileged Zimbabwean students now studying in Zambia.

The flourishing trade and educational ties reflect Zimbabwe’s ongoing engagement and re-engagement policy, aimed at fostering regional integration and boosting investment and trade.
