Former US President Joe Biden Diagnosed with Advanced Prostate Cancer

Former United States President Joe Biden, 82, has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has spread to his bones.
The diagnosis was made on Friday after he sought medical attention for persistent urinary symptoms. Doctors confirmed a high-grade tumour with a Gleason score of 9 out of 10, indicating that the cancer is fast-growing.
Despite the advanced stage, the cancer is hormone-sensitive, which makes it manageable with appropriate treatment. Biden and his family are currently considering available treatment options.
The announcement comes nearly a year after Biden withdrew from the 2024 presidential race due to growing concerns over his health and age. He was succeeded on the Democratic ticket by Vice President Kamala Harris after a widely criticised debate performance.
Biden remains the oldest individual to have held the office of US president.
Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer among men after skin cancer. Health authorities note that age is the most significant risk factor, with 13 out of every 100 men expected to develop the disease during their lifetime.
