Zimbabwe will host the CIMAM Annual Conference in November 2026, marking the first time the prestigious global art event is held in Africa. The announcement was made on June 24 in Barcelona by the International Committee for Museums and Collections of Modern Art (CIMAM).
The conference will take place at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe (NGZ) in Harare, highlighting the country’s growing profile as a trusted venue for global cultural gatherings.
CIMAM brings together international curators, museum directors, and cultural professionals to promote dialogue and innovation in the modern art world.
Zimbabwe’s successful track record with events like HIFA and the International Conference on African Cultures helped secure the bid.
NGZ Executive Director Raphael Chikukwa said the event presents a major opportunity to showcase Zimbabwean and African creativity to the world.
