The Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Company (ZESA) has announced a major boost to the country’s power generation capacity, with 13 new power stations set to be operational by 2025.
According to ZESA Executive Chairman, Sidney Gata, these projects will collectively add 4600 megawatts to the national grid, tripling Zimbabwe’s current maximum electricity demand.
Speaking during a Media Engagement forum organized by the Minister of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services, Honourable Jenfan Muswere, Gata underscored that these projects are already underway and represent tangible investments aimed at addressing the nation’s chronic power shortages.
The initiative is expected to significantly reduce load shedding and provide a stable electricity supply to households, businesses, and industries across the country. This marks a critical step forward for Zimbabwe, which has faced persistent energy deficits in recent years.
The forum, attended by ministers, senior government officials, and media representatives, provided a platform for ZESA to outline its progress and reassure the public about the imminent improvements in power generation.
