Zimbabwe Cricket has unveiled the squad for the two-match Test series against Afghanistan, set to commence on Boxing Day, December 26, 2024, at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

This marks Zimbabwe’s first Boxing Day Test at home in 28 years, with the first match running from December 26-30, 2024, and the second scheduled for January 2-6, 2025.

Craig Ervine will lead the Chevrons, with seasoned players Sikandar Raza, Sean Williams, Richard Ngarava, and Blessing Muzarabani forming the backbone of the team. The squad also includes seven uncapped players: Jonathan Campbell, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Nyasha Mayavo, Trevor Gwandu, Takudzwa Chataira, Newman Nyamhuri, and Ben Curran, who bring fresh potential to the side.

The inclusion of these newcomers reflects Zimbabwe’s strategy to blend experience with emerging talent as they prepare for this historic series.

Meanwhile, the Chevrons will be looking to bounce back from their recent 232-run defeat to Afghanistan in an ODI match at Harare Sports Club yesterday, as they shift focus to the longer format of the game.
