Zimbabwe’s Under-20 team has been eliminated from the AFCON qualifiers after losing 6-5 in a penalty shootout to Zambia in yesterday’s semifinal match.
The Young Warriors conceded early, allowing Zambia to take a 2-0 lead by the 25th minute with goals in the 10th and 25th minutes of the first half. However, substitute Prince Ndlovu from Highlanders sparked a comeback, scoring in the 60th minute and equalizing again in the 75th minute to complete his brace.
Simon Marange, coach of the Young Warriors, commended his team’s effort and display, expressing pride in their accomplishments.
South Africa’s Under-20 team has booked its spot in the AFCON U-20 Qualifiers final, defeating Angola, and will now face Zambia in the championship match. Both finalists have secured automatic spot in the 2025 AFCON U-20 tournament.
