WFP Warns Public of Fake Digital Cash Assistance Scam

Written by on January 22, 2025

The World Food Programme (WFP) Zimbabwe has issued a warning to the public about a fake message circulating on social media, falsely offering digital cash assistance.

The fraudulent message, designed to steal personal information and ID photos, is not from WFP Zimbabwe. The organization has urged people to exercise caution and avoid sharing sensitive details with unverified sources.

WFP Zimbabwe emphasized that all official updates and communication about its assistance programs are shared exclusively through its verified channels.

This warning comes as fake messages targeting reputable organizations, including a recent case involving the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ), continue to rise. The public is advised to remain vigilant against such scams.
