Zimbabwe on Track for Bumper Harvest
Written by Staff Reporter on January 22, 2025
Zimbabwe is set for an exceptional bumper harvest as crops flourish across all provinces, the Ministry of Agriculture reports.
According to Permanent Secretary Professor Dr. Obert Jiri, over 65% of maize planted in December has reached the late vegetative stage, with early maize flowering and later crops showing robust growth. Traditional grains, soybeans, cotton, and tobacco are also thriving, reflecting a positive agricultural trend.
Although the main planting season has ended, farmers can still grow select crops. Professor Jiri emphasized the importance of pest control, proper fertilizer use, and adherence to agronomic practices to maximize yields.
To support this effort, 60 agricultural directors have been deployed nationwide to assist farmers, bolstering food security and advancing Vision 2030 targets.
