Vice President Constantino G.D.N. Chiwenga has called for an accelerated national transition to renewable energy, emphasizing its critical role in powering Zimbabwe’s economic development and ensuring long-term energy security.

Addressing delegates at the 6th edition of the Renewable Energy Conference and Expo currently underway in Victoria Falls, Vice President Chiwenga highlighted the importance of adopting sustainable energy solutions, especially in sectors that depend heavily on a consistent power supply.

“Zimbabwe must invest in renewable energy to reduce reliance on traditional sources and guarantee a steady, secure supply of power,” said Vice President Chiwenga.

Held under the theme “Sustainable Energy Investment for a Better Future,” the conference brings together policymakers, investors, and stakeholders from across the energy sector to explore pathways toward a cleaner energy future.

Vice President Chiwenga also spotlighted government-led initiatives such as the Presidential Solarisation Scheme, which is actively promoting clean energy adoption in both urban and rural communities. The program aims to cut carbon emissions, protect the environment, and meet Zimbabwe’s increasing energy demands through innovative, climate-smart solutions.

The conference serves as a platform to foster dialogue, strengthen partnerships, and mobilize investment in renewable energy as Zimbabwe aligns with global sustainability goals.
