Government to Roll Out Presidential Internet Scheme

Written by on April 9, 2025

The government is set to launch a Presidential Internet Scheme aimed at providing internet access to underserved rural communities across the country.

The initiative was announced by the Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, Honourable Tatenda A. Mavetera, during a recent post-cabinet briefing.

Mavetera said the government will collaborate with private sector players, particularly those with expertise in low earth orbit satellite technology, to ensure the scheme’s success.

The Presidential Internet Scheme will be implemented alongside the Presidential Solarisation Scheme to reduce dependence on electricity from the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA). The initiative targets all 2,400 wards nationwide.
