Vic Falls City Takes Lead in Zambezi Giants Cup

The highly anticipated soccer match between Vic Falls City and Mosi Rovers took place over the weekend at Chinotimba Stadium in Victoria Falls. Both teams, hailing from Victoria Falls, are competing for the prestigious Zambezi Giants Cup.

In a thrilling encounter, Vic Falls City emerged victorious, winning 1-0 against Mosi Rovers. However, the contest is far from over, as the final match is set for next Saturday at Chinotimba Stadium.

According to the competition rules, Mosi Rovers must win by more than one goal to secure the Cup, while a draw will lead to a penalty shootout to decide the winner.

Mr. Phiri, the team manager for Vic Falls City, expressed confidence in his team’s abilities, saying, “We are ready for the challenge, and I have no doubt that we will take the Zambezi Giants Cup.”

He also encouraged the community to support local talent, emphasizing the role of soccer in keeping young boys off the streets and away from drug abuse. “We urge local businesses and organizations to come and support these young boys. Sponsorship would be a huge boost to our morale and would help us continue promoting soccer in our community,” he said.

Meanwhile, a player from Mosi Rovers remained optimistic about their chances, saying, “Today’s game was a bit tight, but we will be geared up to take the Cup next week. We believe we can do it.”

The final match is scheduled for next Saturday at Chinotimba Stadium. The community is encouraged to come out and support their local teams.
