Red Bulls Tens Rugby Tournament Kicks Off in Victoria Falls

The 3rd edition of the Red Bulls Tens Rugby tournament kicked off over the weekend at Victoria Falls Primary School in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. This two-day tournament has attracted seven men’s teams and five women’s teams from various parts of Zimbabwe, including Bulawayo, Plumtree, Harare, and Bindura. Teams from neighboring countries like Botswana and Zambia are also participating, making it an exciting international event.

Mr. Patrick Ngwenya, the Tournament Director, emphasized that the aim of the tournament is not just about winning but about participation. “We want to encourage teams to come and participate, and to enjoy the game of rugby,” he said. “Winning is not everything, but rather the experience and the opportunity to play against different teams.”

The Director also announced that the winners of the tournament will receive trophies and shields. However, he highlighted that the tournament brings social interaction among different teams and promotes the sport of rugby.

Mr. Ngwenya appealed to the community to come and support the tournament. “We encourage the community to come and watch the games, and to support the teams,” he said. “We also need the community’s support in terms of sponsorship, as we have financial implications to consider.”

The Red Bulls Tens Rugby tournament is an annual event aiming to promote rugby in Zimbabwe and provide a platform for teams to compete. Organized by a local rugby club, the tournament receives support from local businesses and organizations.

The tournament continues tomorrow, with the finals scheduled for the morning. The community is encouraged to come out, support the teams, and enjoy the exciting rugby action.

One of the team players expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I’m thrilled to be part of the Red Bulls Tens Rugby tournament. It’s a great opportunity for us to compete against other teams from different parts of the country and even from neighboring countries. The atmosphere here is electric, and we’re looking forward to giving it our all on the pitch.”
