The Bulawayo Regional Court has sentenced two men to a combined 19 years in prison for robbing a businesswoman of ZAR 137,000 in May 2023.
Silence Kwangwa (30) and Douglas Ruzana (32) were found guilty of attacking Noleen Mathuthu in Old Luveve after she closed her shop in Makokoba.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the suspects approached Mathuthu from behind, tripped her to the ground, and stole her handbag containing the cash before fleeing in a blue Honda Fit. The vehicle was later recovered by police.
Kwangwa assisted authorities in locating the car, while Ruzana was identified by Mathuthu during an identification parade. However, the stolen money was never recovered.
Kwangwa was sentenced to 10 years in prison, with his vehicle forfeited to the state, while Ruzana received a 9-year prison term.
