SADC Senior Officials Convene in Zimbabwe for Regional Growth Talks

The SADC Cluster Meeting of Senior Officials began in Zimbabwe on Monday, bringing together regional experts to discuss strategies for boosting economic growth and trade across Southern Africa. The meeting focuses on key sectors such as transport, ICT, information sharing, and meteorology, with the goal of strengthening regional integration and cooperation.
Dr. Beullah Chirume, the Permanent Secretary of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, highlighted the role of digital transformation in regional development. She emphasized the need to expand broadband infrastructure, strengthen cybersecurity measures, and mitigate cyber threats to safeguard the region’s cyberspace.
Meanwhile, Engineer Joy P. Makumbe, the Permanent Secretary of Transport and Infrastructural Development, stressed the importance of modernizing border infrastructure to facilitate trade. He called for a holistic logistics approach to improve efficiency, the standardization of border facilities, and enhanced air connectivity through code-sharing agreements.
The meeting is expected to drive regional integration, economic collaboration, and sustainable development across SADC member states.
