Three individuals have been sentenced to 10 months imprisonment for their involvement in the theft of presidential inputs from the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) depot in Tsholotsho.

Lydia Moyo (52), Abisanjo Mpofu (44), and Justin Maparadze (40) were found guilty of falsifying documents and orchestrating the theft of 400 bags of 50kg fertilizer, 30 packs of 10kg sunflower seeds, and 100 bottles of 200ml Imida Chloprid insecticide.

These essential agricultural inputs were intended for farmers in Ward 7 of Tsholotsho but were instead diverted to Best Blue Investments in Bulawayo.

The court heard that the trio conspired with a GMB supervisor, an Agritex officer, and security guards to facilitate this criminal act.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe highlighted that this conviction sends a clear message that misusing resources meant to help poor farmers will have serious consequences.
