The Victoria Falls City Council today convened a strategic meeting with various Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) at Chinotimba Clinic to address drug and substance abuse while mapping out development plans for 2025.
Representatives from Wild Life Trust, Rose of Charity, Reachout Trust, Friendship Bench, and Arise and Shine Community Development, among others, attended the meeting to discuss collaborative efforts in tackling drug abuse and promoting community development.
Victoria Falls City Council official Mrs. Masola described the meeting as a crucial step in strengthening partnerships, particularly in light of the government’s initiative to establish a rehabilitation center in the city.
“We have already begun construction on the rehab center, and we are committed to working with NGOs to ensure its success,” she stated.
The gathering emphasized the importance of a united approach to tackling social challenges, with stakeholders pledging to pool resources and expertise for maximum impact.
As Victoria Falls continues to develop, initiatives like these reflect the council’s commitment to safeguarding residents’ well-being. With the rehabilitation center set to open soon, the city is taking concrete steps toward curbing drug abuse and fostering a healthier, more resilient community.
