Scottland tightened their grip on the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title race after producing a commanding display to thrash Manica Diamonds 5-0 at Rufaro Stadium on Friday, extending their winning streak to seven consecutive matches.

The league leaders delivered a ruthless attacking performance, with goals from Mthokozisi Msebe, Moses Shidolo, Khama Billiat, Knowledge Musona and Kwake Thwala sealing a comprehensive victory and opening a temporary eight-point gap at the top of the table.

The emphatic win further underlined Scottland’s championship credentials as they continue to set the pace in the race for league honours.

Attention now shifts to the remainder of the weekend fixtures, with second-placed Hardrock seeking to keep pressure on the leaders when they travel to Luveve Stadium to face Chicken Inn today.

Elsewhere, MWOS welcome Highlanders to Ngoni Stadium, while defending champions Simba Bhora take on TelOne at Wadzanayi Stadium in another potentially decisive encounter.

CAPS United will be aiming to bounce back to winning ways when they host Triangle at Rufaro Stadium, while FC Platinum lock horns with FC Hunters at Mandava Stadium. At Nyamhunga Stadium, ZPC Kariba face a stern test against Ngezi Platinum Stars.

The matchday programme concludes on Sunday with Dynamos taking on Bulawayo Chiefs at Rufaro Stadium, while AGAMA square off against Herentals at Wadzanayi Stadium.

With the title race gathering momentum, all eyes will be on Scottland’s closest challengers as they look to respond to the league leaders’ emphatic statement victory.
