Sanganai/Hlanganani Tourism Expo Underway in Bulawayo

The Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo has officially commenced in Bulawayo, with the first day featuring the Zimbabwe MICE Masterclass an event aimed to enhance the skills of professionals in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector, and is being implemented by the tourism industry.

The masterclass serves as a platform for participants to gain insights into best practices and strategies that can improve the effectiveness of MICE in Zimbabwe. Discussions were focus on attracting more events, enhancing the overall visitor experience, and addressing infrastructural development in the country.

Officiating at the MICE Masterclass, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Tongai Mnangagwa underscored the importance of MICE, highlighting its relevance in the tourism sector.

“MICE tourism which is also regarded as business tourism is not only a vital component of our tourism landscape but also a powerful driver for economic growth and development in Zimbabwe. It creates significant business opportunities for our nation, fostering collaboration and innovation across various sectors. Thus, by attracting international conferences and exhibitions, we will not only be showcasing Zimbabwe as a premier destination but also facilitating partnerships that enhance our local industries.”_ Honourable Minister Tongai Mnangagwa

He further emphasized the need for all stakeholders to leverage the MICE sector’s potential to drive economic growth and promote Zimbabwe on a global stage.

Stakeholders participating at the event also shared their insights with Skyz Metro Fm reporter, Operations officer Mercy Chingombe from the Central Air Transport Services(CATs) shared their expectations from the event.

We are looking to leveraging on the opportunities that we are going to get from the MICE conference because there a lot of investment opportunities that are there and we would like to also harness them and be able to make use of them so as to build our marketing strategy as that also guides on how Zimbabwe is doing in terms of tourism and hospitality,”_ Ms Alice Chingombe

Also speaking on the sidelines of the event his worship Chinhoyi Mayor Owen Charuka shared what the Masterclass means to him and his city back home.

“The MICE Masterclass is an eye opener to mostly areas that house the tourism industry like ourselves in Chinhoyi we have the Chinhoyi caves qnd what we are actually learning here has much to do to with Chinhoyi caves than we know. We are very much impressed with what we are learning here and will take it back home and share with those that are not here,”_ His Worship Mayor Owen Charuza

Meanwhile, the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expowill run from tomorrow the 12th of September upto the 15th at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fare.
