The government has announced plans to commence the rehabilitation of the Bulawayo-Vic Falls highway, a route connecting Zimbabwe to the SADC region.

Speaking on the sidelines of the ongoing Sanganai Hlangani World Tourism Expo currently underway in Bulawayo, the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Hon Tongai Mnangagwa, revealed that the ministry is working closely with contractors and the Ministry of Roads to expedite the project’s completion.

The rehabilitation project aims to address the highway’s dilapidated state, which has been linked to a series of accidents resulting in loss of life, including the tragic limousine accident that claimed an entire family, members of famous Tsholotsholo band Insimbi Zezhwane, amongst many.

The Minister cited that the project seeks to enhance road safety, reduce accidents, and boost the tourism and trade sectors by facilitating the movement of goods and services.
