The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is hosting an Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government today in Harare, chaired by Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa. The summit will focus on the security situation in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The meeting follows the SADC Organ Troika Summit held on January 28, 2025, chaired by Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan. It will be preceded by sessions of the SADC Standing Committee of Senior Officials and the SADC Council of Ministers.
With the SADC Mission in the DRC (SAMIDRC) working to stabilize the region, the summit aims to address ongoing challenges and strengthen efforts to restore peace and security.
