SADC, EU Hold Ministerial Partnership Dialogue in Harare

A Ministerial Partnership Dialogue between the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the European Union (EU) commenced at the New Parliament Building in Mt Hampden, Harare yesterday.
The high-level meeting has gathered key stakeholders to engage in discussions on critical issues of mutual interest, including peace and security, human and sustainable development, climate change, environment, trade, and investment.
Chairperson of the SADC Council of Ministers Honourable Professor Amon Murwira, in his opening remarks, underscored the purpose of the gathering, emphasizing the need to reflect on the long-standing inter-regional cooperation characterized by collaboration, mutual trust, and respect.
Poland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is representing the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Honourable Radoslaw Sikorski echoed this sentiment, noting the EU’s high regard for its relationship with SADC and acknowledging the substantial progress achieved in their partnership.
The dialogue is anticipated to solidify the ties between SADC and the EU, fostering enhanced cooperation on pivotal areas of mutual interest and strengthening the framework for future collaboration.
