Road Accidents Rise During Heroes and Defence Forces Holiday

A concerning trend has emerged from the recent Heroes and Defence Forces holiday, with a 11% increase in road accidents reported across Zimbabwe.
According to statistics from the Zimbabwe Republic Police, 149 road accidents occurred during the holiday period, resulting in 16 fatalities and 77 injuries.
This represents a 11% increase in accidents compared to the previous year, which saw 134 accidents, 15 fatalities, and 76 injuries. The rise in road accidents is a cause for concern, and authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution and adhere to road rules to prevent further loss of life.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police emphasized the importance of safe driving practices, including avoiding overtaking when unsafe, refraining from speeding in hazardous conditions, and prioritizing vehicle maintenance to ensure roadworthiness.
