Public Urged to Prioritise Children’s Safety as Schools Reopen

Written by on January 14, 2025

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has urged the public to prioritize children’s safety as schools reopen for the first term on 14 January 2025.

The ZRP National Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi stressed the importance of using roadworthy vehicles to transport students and following traffic regulations to avoid accidents. He warned against speeding, which could lead to loss of life and injuries.

Parents and guardians were advised to avoid letting children travel at night, as they are at risk of robberies and accidents caused by driver fatigue. The ZRP also cautioned school authorities to strengthen security during fee payment periods, as robbers often target schools.

The public is encouraged to take extra precautions to ensure a safe and smooth back-to-school period.
