Education Minister Condemns Extra Lessons on School Grounds
Written by Staff Reporter on January 14, 2025
The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Dr Torerayi Moyo, has condemned the practice of conducting extra lessons on school grounds, reiterating that it remains illegal.
Speaking ahead of the new school term, Dr Moyo emphasized that such lessons cannot take place on school premises.
The Minister explained that while teachers are free to offer extra lessons in their homes, it is unfair to deny students their right to education based on their ability to pay for additional lessons. Moyo warned that teachers who continue this practice on school grounds risk losing their jobs.
Despite the illegality, many teachers still conduct extra lessons during regular school hours. The public is urged to report such violations.
