Prophet Magaya Announces Second Stadium Project

Written by on November 2, 2024

Yadah FC owner Prophet Walter Magaya has unveiled a major initiative to construct a 10,000-seater stadium in Kwekwe, named Chahwanda Stadium.

The facility is intended to host both local and international football matches and is a joint venture with Shepherd Chahwanda, owner of Hardrock FC, a club competing in the Zifa Midlands Division 2B.

Set for completion by January 15, 2025, just before the Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) presidential election, in which Magaya is a candidate, the stadium will meet Confederation of African Football (Caf) standards.

The stadium will be located approximately four kilometers from Kwekwe’s central business district and is expected to address a regional need for advanced sports infrastructure, positioning Kwekwe as a key destination for high-profile matches.

Chahwanda Stadium, an upgraded version of Magaya’s Heart Arena, is designed to overcome previous design limitations and serve as a premier venue for a range of events. Building on this project, Magaya envisions further developments, including stadiums in the southern and eastern regions, with Victoria Falls designated for a future “Heart Stadium.”
