Private schools operating illegally to be shut down

Written by on April 24, 2024

The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Torerai Moyo, has warned private schools operating illegally in the country that they will be shut down.

Speaking during a post cabinet press briefing, Minister Moyo says there is a shortage of close to 2800 schools which has led to the mushrooming of private schools that are not registered with the ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.

He says unregistered private schools pose a health hazard due to an uncondusive learning environment.

He says the Ministry needs private registered schools that are able to control quality education and standards.
