Police confirm a shooting incident that occurred in QueensPark Bulawayo

Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed a shooting incident involving a robbery suspect, James Moyo (35), which occurred in Queens Park, Bulawayo, on 20 April 2024.

In a statement, the ZRP says the shooting incident follows the arrest of the suspect as well as Tinashe Dembure (29) and Mthulisi Maphosa (29) for robbery at Gunya Shopping Centre, Mahatshula North in Bulawayo on 20 April 2024 at around 3pm.

Police state that upon arrest, James Moyo dropped a machete and tried to disarm a police officer who was armed with a CZ pistol loaded with six rounds. This prompted the police to shoot the suspect on the stomach.

Moyo was referred to United Bulawayo Hospitals for treatment.
ZRP reiterates that any form of confrontation with police officers, by criminals, will be met with appropriate response.
