President Mnangagwa hails Zimbabwe Sables Rugby Africa Cup Win

President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa yesterday hosted a congratulatory ceremony at the State House for the Zimbabwe National Rugby team, the Zimbabwe Sables, who lifted the Rugby Africa Cup in Uganda this year.
The team’s impressive 29-3 victory over Algeria earned them an automatic qualification spot at the 2027 Rugby World Cup. The team came to the State House led by the Acting Minister of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture Honourable Kazembe Kazembe.
In his speech President E.D Mnangagwa called upon the Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, industry stakeholders and business leaders to scale up support for the sports subsector, emphasizing the need for quality infrastructure and ensuring that athletes can pursue sports as a career.
President E.D Mnangagwa applauded the team’s dedication, patriotism and hard work, which characterized their performance with resilience and strength. He also commended the team for making the nation proud by winning the African Rugby Championship.
