Body of Former VP Phelekezela Mphoko set to arrive in Harare today

The body of Zimbabwe’s liberation war hero and former Vice President, Phelekezela Mphoko, is expected to arrive in Harare today at 5 pm from India, the Ministry of Information has announced.
Mphoko, who passed away in India at the age of 84, will be transported to Bulawayo on Friday at 9 am. The former VP served under President Robert Mugabe from 2014 to 2017 and was a key figure in Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle
Mphoko’s death has been met with an outpouring of tributes from across the country, with President Emmerson Mnangagwa describing him as a “stalwart of the Liberation Struggle”
The ZANU-PF Politburo has also accorded Mphoko the status of National Hero in recognition of his contributions to Zimbabwe’s independence and development. More on his burial to be announced as information unveils.
