President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has congratulated president elect Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah for her victory in the presidential elections.
In a statement released this afternoon, President Mnangagwa congratulated Ndaitwah stating that her victory is historical as she is the first female president of Namibia. Ndaitwah continues the reign of the South West Africa People’s Organisation (SWAPO) that has been in power since 1990.
President Mnangagwa highlighted that Ndaitwah’s victory shows the trust the people of Namibia have in her capabilities to safeguard the values and heritage of the Namibian people. He said that the people trust that she will lead the country to a prosperous future.
The president stated that he hopes to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries for the benefit of the people of both countries.
Ndaitwah won as a result of the SWAPO party securing 51 out of 96 seats in the national assembly while getting 57.31% of the public’s votes.
