Namibia Electoral Commission Announces Final Election Results

The Electoral Commission of Namibia has officially released the final results of the 2024 Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The ruling SWAPO party has secured 51 out of 96 seats in the National Assembly, while the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) claimed 20 seats.

In the presidential race, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah from SWAPO won decisively, obtaining 57.31% of the votes. Dr. Panduleni Itula of the IPC followed with 25.50%.

This historic victory makes Nandi-Ndaitwah the first female President of Namibia, representing a significant milestone in the nation’s history.

Her victory is viewed as an advancement of women’s representation in politics and is anticipated to motivate future generations of women leaders in Namibia and Africa.
