The Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, has extended his congratulations to Mozambique’s president-elect, Daniel Chapo, following his success in the country’s recent presidential elections.
During a Politburo meeting held in Harare, Mnangagwa acknowledged Chapo’s victory as a positive outcome for Mozambique and praised the people of the nation for a peaceful election process. Chapo, the candidate for the ruling FRELIMO party, is set to assume leadership from the current president. The elections, which took place on 9 October, saw strong participation, with final results expected to be announced later this week.
Chapo’s win marks a continuation of FRELIMO’s leadership in Mozambique, and Mnangagwa’s message of solidarity reinforces the close ties within the region.
