Plumtree Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Rape

A 22-year-old man from Plumtree has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping an 18-year-old woman in a disturbing home invasion incident last month.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority, crime took place on the night of 15 May 2025, when the man broke into the victim’s home at around 11 PM, using a fork and knife to force open the door to her room.
The victim, who was asleep at the time, was awakened and threatened at knifepoint. The attacker ordered her to remain silent before sexually assaulting her.
After the assault, the man reportedly fell asleep in the same room, giving the victim a chance to escape. She immediately alerted her aunt, who helped her file a police report. The assailant was arrested and later convicted.
