Mpilo Central Hospital’s cancer treatment centre is poised for a significant upgrade, with the government announcing plans to purchase new equipment and repair existing machines.
The centre’s CT scan machine, which is currently out of operation, will receive the necessary spare parts to restore its functionality.
Speaking during the post cabinet briefing recently, Minister of Health and Child Care Dr. Douglas Mombeshora stated that the government will allocate funds from the sugar tax to support the purchase of new equipment and the repair of existing machines.
Once the upgrade is complete, Mpilo Hospital’s cancer treatment centre will be better equipped to provide quality care to patients. The centre’s improved capabilities will also help to reduce the burden on other healthcare facilities in the country.
