Minister Moyo Urges SMEs to Adopt Clean Energy for Competitiveness

The Minister of Energy and Power Development, Hon. July Moyo, has called on Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to embrace clean energy solutions to enhance economic growth and reduce dependence on the national grid.
Speaking at the recently concluded National Competitive Commission Summit, he emphasized the importance of innovation in energy use, urging businesses to adopt solar-powered machinery.
Minister Moyo highlighted how major platinum producers have already invested in solar and thermal power to ensure stable energy supplies, improving their competitiveness.
To mitigate the effects of climate change on power generation, the minister urged the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) to expand net metering, which currently contributes 75MW to the national grid.
The National Competitiveness Commission is tasked with fostering a competitive business environment through policy development, coordination, and implementation.
