Masvingo-Beitbridge Road Accident Death Toll Rises to 28

The death toll from the Masvingo-Beitbridge road accident has risen to 28, following the deaths of two more victims.
In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that the fatalities increased from 26 on 21 February to 28 today.
The accident occurred on 13 February when an Urban Connect bus collided head-on with a commercial truck at Lutumba Tollgate. Several people sustained severe injuries. Police reports indicate that the bus driver’s retest expired in 2021 and the vehicle was operating without a valid route permit, though investigations into the exact cause are still ongoing.
The ZRP is appealing for public assistance in identifying two remaining victims, a man in a red shirt and black trousers and a woman in a black jersey and black trousers. Anyone with information is urged to contact their local police or the national complaints desk.
